Once, in the twentieth century, scientists worked so long and so obstinately and launched a major space probe for research. Having overcome long and dangerous journey, the probe entered the orbit of the large planet and undertook maneuvers there. All programs were executed in accordance with the instructions. Passing the opposite side of the planet (invisible to the observers), the probe vanished from sight. Command and engineering staff were waiting impatiently its appearance on the other side of the planet. About ten minutes passed like this, but the probe has not appeared. Nothing...
Everyone began to worry (just imagine 10 years of hard work and research, as well as the value - 300 million dollars!!!). They searched everything – but no luck. The probe has gone, just disappeared.
It turned out later that the craft created by brilliant scientists was captured into a different orbit and flew too low. As a result, it burned up in the atmosphere. In fact, It took awhile longer to understand the cause of the incident. And the reason is so: in a mathematical equation units of measure have not been converted from the British into the metric system (pound), and the space station of $300 million went to its certain death. The spacecraft was doomed even before the start.
There were many causes for failure. The space station was the part of the program of accelerating the introduction of the innovations for creative freedom. At the same time the risk has increased, it’s a common dilemma for the leaders of innovation. But the main link in the chain of failures was the metric system: the metric system exsists more than 200 years, and it is used by 190 of the 193 countries on the planet.
The worst thing is that the navigation blocks identified this problem, but their calculations were not taken seriously...
